Original Item: Only One Available: This beautiful uniform grouping is named to Private William T. Carrigan, of the 29th (Surveying & Printing) Engineer Regiment. Despite the lax nature of their work, the regiment was used as infantry during a great deal of combat stretching from July 15th-November 11th, 1918.

This is the uniform & field gear grouping of William T. Carrigan Jr., Serial #: 400563, Company H, 29th Engineers. This grouping includes Carrigan’s M1912 Summer Weight uniform tunic & breeches, his wool jerkin, his blue duffel bag named and unit marked to him, his pair of pre-war marching boots, his pair of puttees, his overseas cap, and his red & white engineer campaign hat cord.

Carrigan’s uniform jacket has an AEF General Headquarters patch, featuring a circular cut French flag under a wool ring. The jacket also has US & Engineer collar discs, a victory medal ribbon, two overseas chevrons denoting 12-17 months overseas, and a discharge chevron.

William Thomas Carrigan Jr. was born on November 27th, 1893, in Baltimore, Maryland. Later in life, he moved to Somerset, Maryland. He was inducted into the draft on February 28th, 1918, being assigned to Company H, 29th Regiment of Engineers (Surveying & Printing). He traveled overseas on June 22nd, 1918, seeing combat in the Aisne-Marne defensive, the Toul Defensive sector, the St. Mihiel offensive, and the Meuse-Argonne offensive in between surveying & printing at General Headquarters.
